AC68U firmware 3.0.0.4.384.21045 issue?

AC68U 3.0.0.4.384.21045.
Amazon and Snbforum are so slow after the firmware update. Most of other websites are fine. It's fine for a short period of time if I reboot the router. And then it goes to slow again. Does anybody have this issue?

All, sorry if this has been addressed or answered but I just tried Merlin because VPN (vyprVPN) speeds were trash (20Mbps of 130 possible dl). Merlin rocks, speed is average 40Mbps now...sweet. So, problem is the feature of Redirect Internet traffic = Policy Rules of Policy Rules (strict) seems to bypass the vpn by default. Am I missing something? Shouldn't I be able to simply state which device (i.e. roku) I want to bypass?

Linksys EA9500 and Roku Private Listening/Remote

I have a Linksys EA9500 and often use the private listening feature of my Roku stick. But the audio was getting dropped about once an hour or so requiring the private listening to be turned off and on again. It's not really a big deal, but in addition to that, the remote would occasionally unpair from the stick and it was always a headache to get it paired again (multiple reboots + pressing the pairing button + fingers crossed). I then began to wonder if my router's tri-band "smart"...

no internet with OpenVPN server

I'm running 384.5 on an ASUS RT-AC87U, and I've setup an OpenVPN server. I setup some very basic ad-blocking rules for dnsmasq, and the OpenVPN server is set with "client will use VPN to access" "Internet Only".

In the Advanced settings, I have "advertise DNS to clients" set to "yes". Whenever a client connects to the VPN server, it is not able to resolve any IP addresses.

If I set "client will use VPN to access" "both", then DNS resolution works fine. It's a workaround, but...

Hello all,
I've been attempting to work out the parental control time limits for this router. My desire is to have two separate networks (I understand it supports up to four.) One would be for the parents, and it would have all access all the time. One would be for the kids, and it would turn off at bedtime. I know I can add a control per device, but with the quantity of devices, and changing of some, I would much prefer to have a blanket network control.

I am using the most recent ASUS...

Hello - I'm hoping that someone can help me (long-time forum lurker/ first time poster) with a small issue that I have with my home network setup. Apologies in advance for the wall of text ....

Basically, I have the following setup:

Internet

Cable Modem
|
Primary router (AC66u: 192.168.1.1) <--> Computer_1 connected via hardwired lan connection

VPN router (AC86u: 192.168.9.1 - running merlin and OPENvpn client to VPN provider)

Is it possible to block IP ranges from specific ports either directly or with Skynet?

The need is to block ranges from trying to hack the VoIP while allowing office users to access websites with IP addresses within those ranges. I.e., can I blacklist IP addresses or ranges from specific ports while allowing access to others?

I haven't been able to find any info or posts that reference this ability. No is an OK answer but if there is a way to do this I would appreciate any help or references to the information on how.

Unable to clear/update OpenVPN Client Settings

I have an Asus RT-AC3100 on firmware v. 384.5. At some point on firmware a couple versions back, I created an OpenVPN client connection using a NordVPN settings file. I am able to establish the VPN connection without any issues. However, I am now unable to change the server address and port. Whenever I manually change it or use another NordVPN settings file and apply the changes, it is reverted back when the page refreshes. In an attempt to solve this, I reset the router to factory defaults...

Hi there,

I am new here and just started using Asus-Merlin firmware on RT-AC68U.
Thank you RMerlin for maintaining this firmware for Asus routers.

I just switched from stock firmware to Asus-Merlin 384.5. I did factory reset before switching from stock to Asus-Merlin and after as well.
The router is used in small business, planning to change it to UTM but later.

My question: I noticed that at some point Clients List shows me wrong names, some names don't make sense.
We name our laptops...

RT-AC87U - no option for IPSec VPN Server?

I noticed in the changelog that IPSec was added to AC87U some time ago. So I upgraded to 384.5 but can still only choose from PPTP and OpenVPN under VPN Server.

Is IPSec not available on AC87U anymore or have I misunderstood something?

Now, I make my question that I haven't found throught the forum.
Is there any way to use bash scripts in Asuswrt-Merlin firms?
I know you can use sh scripts but I have some very complex bash scritps I'd like yo use in the router and I'd prefer not to adapt them.

RT N66U does not stay in rescue mode

I recently tried to update the firmware for my RT N66U router.
Off course it made the router stop working and after some research I discovered that it was in rescue mode.

I am now trying to use the firmware restoration utility from Asus web page. I can put the router in rescue mode (turning it on while holding reset so that the power led blinks) but as soon as I try to upload new firmware the power led stays in what ever state it's in when i start.

When the utility is finished uploading it...

Hi folks!

I'm trying to figure out how to control (simply to enable and disable) AiProtection from the command line. What I would like to do is, set up a cron-based schedule to enable and disable AiProtection Parental Controls (or a client entry within it - I don't mind which).

The problem is, AiProtection offers Web & Apps Filters, and Time Scheduling, but not the intersection of the two: I would like to permit all access to a device normally, but filter out certain apps/websites during...

I have a asus n66u with merlin firmware.. I have been having wifi issues and other issues on and off for past year, I am looking for a replacement . I use plex , netflix ,youtube alot, all my main pc's are hardwired. My son is starting to game alot, my choices are TP-Link AC1900 Smart Wireless Router - Beamforming Dual Band Gigabit,Netgear (R7000-100PAS) Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Router, Gigabit Router

I am looking to spend no more than 150 , unless i truley have too

Ethernet Failover Help

Due to me not being on premises all the time and no other staff having any I.T/Networking Knowledge (mine is only self taught and there is a lot i do not know) i'm having to implement some fail over.

This may seem a dumb question but i dont know the best way to achieve.
My network layout is as follows:


Local Clients --> Patch Panel --> Managed 24 Port Switch --> Mikrotik RB1100AHX2 --> FTTP Gateway (ISP supplied)

The mikrotik router also feeds off to other premises as we are providing...
