Disable local domain for admin login?

Is it possible to disable the admin login page to be accessible by accessing http://router.asus.com ? I always login using the custom IP address I set for my admin page..

I ask because of the well documented security issues posed by easy access due to local domains..

Hey Guys,

Is there a way or is it even possible to use Asus router as repeater or router to share a 802.1x network with AP-TTLS (MSCHAPv2) authentification ?

I just moved in a new appartement and my ISP will install my internet access only 2 weeks from now, here I have a Smart wifi from my ISP I can connect to it via username and password from my pc but other devices such as Apple TV Xbox ect can't.

So therefore can I use my Asus router to connect to that network and then share it from...

Help Needed - Route Traffic Around OpenVPN Client?

I run an OpenVPN client through UnlmitedVPN for all of my connections. It runs great but running a VPN through every device can create problems. Specifically with my AmazonTV. I would like to route the internet directly to it's IP address and bypass the VPN client.

I know I can upload Merlin firmware and create a policy to bypass the VPN Client, but I am also using AiMesh and would prefer to use ASUS firmware.

I have tried WAN DMZ but that doesn't seem to work. Anyone have any suggestions...

Anyone Using AirTies 4920?

I bought three of these from Amazon for review since AirTies won't provide them. I could not get them configured using either the Android app or web interface.

I could get them to link with each other using the WPS buttons. But the app still won't recognize them.

Has anyone had any luck configuring or using these?

Access to devices / appliances on both private & guest SSID

Running Merlin-John [Fork] (version 374.43_2-29L2j9527) on an RT-AC68U and want a specific Chromecast device, Sonos speakers, and a media server to be accessible simultaneously by both guest and private WiFi networks, but where guest clients cannot access computers, tablets, phones, etc. connected to the private WiFi network. Only two settings in GUI are "Access Intranet" and "Set AP Isolated". Neither, I believe, are adequate for my needs. Suggestions sought.

RT-AC87U Terrible RSSI compared to RT-AC66U

I had a chance to get an RT-AC87U and decided I should try and use it to replace my aging RT-AC66U that I use as a media bridge from my RT-AC68U that runs DD-WRT.

The RT-AC66U connected to my RT-AC68U and reports an RSSI of -56dbm. When I turn it off and replace it with the new RT-AC-87U running latest Merlin WRT, the RSSI is -70dbm and occasionally goes up to -80dbm.

Why is it so god awful terrible? I would have thought it would be the same or even better??? Even the signal indicator...

Hi All,

Running RT-AC3200_384.5_0.zip firmware on my AC3200. The 2.4ghz channel seems to be tapping out at 8 connections. Is that expected?

AiMesh Frustration

i have an AC5300 set up as my main router and have reset my AC3100 many times over past 2 days. I can tell the AC3100 to function as AiMesh node and I can then have the AC5300 identify the node, it gets to 99% and then I get the message I have posted here. Over and over again. Both routers on latest official ASUS firmware. Routers about 3 feet apart etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have an interesting observation that hopefully someone can help shed some light on.

I have 200Mbps internet service and an ASUS RT-AC88U wireless router.
Got rid of cable TV and just stream everything now through HBO, Netflix and Hulu Plus.
Physical location of my router is 12inches below my Apple TV 4th Gen so I direct connected it figuring it would give a more stable connection and leave the Wifi open for all the other devices.
Apple TV is only 10/100, but I did get consistent 80Mbps...

Hi,
I've been trying to troubleshoot the problems many of us have been experiencing with wireless connectivity on the new 384 code base. I've been doing packet caputres and looking through logs to try and find a common thread for why/when the problem occurs on my ac88. Here is something interesting i found.

I started doing a network capture while i was experiencing problems with throughput and latency on the 2.4ghz. Wired and 5ghz appeared to be working fine.

Table top access point

I'm looking for some recommendations for a table top access point.

A little background. I've got a 2 story house with a finished basement; roughly 3800 sq ft. I've been using an Orbi RBR50 and 2x RBW30's for the past 6 months. Coverage/speed for the most part is good, for my 300/12 Mbps service.

We built our house 3 years ago and about 3 months ago, I finally got around to terminating all the low voltage. 18 CAT6 and 13 RG6. Unfortunately, I was somewhat short sided and didn't run any...

Possible bad order of DNS resolvers supplied by DHCP

on RT-ac87U

merlin FW 384.5

on LAN
DHCP server

DNS and wins server setting...
this section appears poorly organized

we can set :
DNS server 1
DNS server 2
then it goes on:
Advertise router's IP in addition to user-specified DNS

this would appear to be incorrect if we want to allow domain names that are local to be resolved.

This area needs more description to make it CLEAR that "local" name resolution will not work
if the client is supplied with OTHER DNS resolvers.

Telnet to Tenda Nova Mesh

I've just set up a Nova network in parallel to my existing setup and am a bit irritated that you can only administer it via an app which is very limited.

Well, that's what they tell you, but when I did a security scan on the network it showed an insecure Telnet password. I was able to change the password but I wonder if I could do more with Telnet?

Anyone know what instructions Tenda use when Telneting into their routers?
