So I've been using the Ax82U v1 for the past 3 years, it has been good until I've been messing with some features. I believe the most notable one is the OpenVPN server from what I've read on other posts. Also its running an AiMesh setup, wired backhaul for that great node stability. The 5G band has been having somewhat of some stability issues, where the upload link speed drops to 6mbps, while download might be at 150mbps, but that makes Instagram to take way too long to load or Youtube to...

I had Diversion and Skynet running but have since disabled them, suspecting that may be the culprit. Essentially, I can't see any device connected to my network that is sending large amounts of data, but when I look at the traffic monitor (Analyzer) it shows this:

The above router was installed as a replacement back in August 2023. All went well and I had no reason to post a question until the latest firmware update this week.
I am adding a new DL Web Powered Switch so that I may access LAN devices remotely. I have assigned Port 8022 thru the WAN - Virtual Server/Port Forwarding tab on the

For the last 2 years I've been on a 1gbps fiber internet. My apartment was already pre-wired with an ethernet outlet in each room, the ISP's router/modem sits in a little drawer in the hallway with its router part turned off, my GT-AX6000 in the middle room (nothing connected to it) and all TVs and PCs throughout the apartment connected directly to the ISP's router through the apartment's wiring. Hi,
I am on a very old version by Merlin on Asus RT-AX88U.
Current Version is : 386.3_2
Latest Version is :
RT-AX88U_3004_388.8
I am trying to update to the latest one but it doesn't work.
I've also tried to update to stock and it also doesn't work.
Do you have any idea why and suggestions how to fix ?

Hi all,
I'm having a strange problem with my GT-AX11000. There is no pattern to it and no indication of a problem in the log, at least, that I can see.
I attached a snippet of my syslog where the "problem" occurs.
Here's what I'm experiencing (on the daily):
- ALL 2.4ghz wifi clients (voice assistants, thermostat, etc) get deauthenticated, and cannot reconnect to the main router - BUT they can
reconnect to the two mesh routers I have in my network. But no internet access.

I've always wondered about these big antennas on routers. Wondered if it was a gimmick having big antennas, anyway I had the opportunity to teardown some antennas on some Asus AX routers I happened to be fixing.
Was surprised that they don't even put the actual antenna at the top of the tube.... What kind of BS is this Asus?

I have a DS918+ with 4 IronWolf 12TB drives in it. I bought it quite a while ago and it's no longer in warranty.
We were on vacation for two weeks and when I came home I noticed that the NAS is turned off. I should mention that it is connected to an UPS and in previous ocasions, when we had power outages, it handled them correctly by turning itself off. Also I don't know for sure that we had a power outage while we were away.
Anyway, I tried to power it on and the power button blinked blue...

Hello,
I had a similar post on the other forum but no one responded.
I bricked my router to the state where no CFE is working nor the Asus recovery method nor 30/30/30 the router is in a loop of restart every 3 min.
I bought the USB to Serial cable & planning on restoring the original firmware this way but I don't have any command lists to use.
Can anyone provide me with a guide / help file or documentation on how to restore using which tools / commands?

Hello folks!
I'm looking for correct iptables to allow me to pass all dns queries through Unbound, the goal would be:
- Encrypt any plain dns.
- Force hardcoded DNS through Unbound; Smart TVs etc.
- Deny any DoH / DoT browsers may use.
- Use Adguard to cease any ads.
My setup at the moment > RT-AX86U Pro (Merlin FW) > Adguard > Unbound (Using DoT, Cloudflare)
In Adguard upstream at the moment is set as '127.0.0.1:53535' at this time everything works, blocking ads as intended...

First post. I am using
@Ranger802004 wan failover script (unsuccessfully). I have searched and read many threads, including the 25page one of the script. I still can't get the failover to work and I'm not sure if it's my config of the script, router or my failover device. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I'd like to route all traffic from an OpenVPN server client to the Wireguard client.
All the traffic keeps from the OpenVPN server keeps going to the internet instead of through the Wireguard client though.
I greatly appreciate any insight into what's missing or incorrect here.

I have already solved this problem, so I don't so much need advice but I would like to understand what happened. About 2 weeks ago, I received a nasty-gram from my ISP that I had an infected device on my network, and it was doing something that violated their TOS. Asus RT-AX886U no wifi. LEDs off.
My router login stopped working using phone app. Only way to get logged back in was to push the tiny reset button on router. I did that, got through setup, connected to internet via Ethernet. But the wifi isn't available. LEDs for both 2.4 GHz and 5Ghz are off.
Did another restore to factory default through web interface. Same issue. Played with all the wifi settings I could think to try. Same issue. Did a hard reset holding the WPS button while turning...

Whenever I turn on QoS on my AX89X I am no longer able to connect to any websites that I host on an nginx instance internally on my wan using internet facing URLs. I'm using the URLs for the internet so it's doing a DNS lookup to my ip and probably going through the WAN via port forwarding(443) but I'm unsure why this will kill my ability to access the websites. I have an AX-RT88U but since I upgraded to gigabit FiOS, I've been finding the wifi speeds could be better.
