Router periodically locks up - RT-AC68P
About every 2-3 months, my RT-AC68P seems to lock up
I cannot login to the web GUI (on the private LAN) and all internet traffic ceases to function (in or out)
Can still connect to the wifi, but obviously can't get out to the internet.
Power cycling the router and all is well until about 2-3 months later.
I'm on the latest firmware: 3.0.0.4.384_21045
Anyone have any idea what logs I can enable or look at to see what's going...

Asus RT-AC68R Settings in 2019
I have been having some Wi-Fi connection issues lately and am looking for a good "recommended settings" guide, but they are all several years old. Many are also not applicable to NY City signal density. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm running the latest firmware, 384.12, but I have seen so many different recommended settings that at this point I may have done more harm than good. I want to go back and make sure my settings are appropriate for my router and Merlin's...

New clients given my modems name
I have an ac868u which is connected to the internet via a pppoe modem. For some reason new clients are being assigned the name of the modem by the asus router.
I have a private ip set on a virtual wan interface so I can connect to the modem and get the stats, I suspect it has something to do with this, but why?

issue on 384.12 and above, VPN server fails start
periodically when my router reboots on scheduled reboots, a VPN server may fail to start, might be vpn 1 or vpn2 I am trying to figure out what could be causing this behavior. I see no errors in the log, it looks to be that it is just failing to have enough time to start.
any suggestions?

My quandary - RT-AC86U or R9000 or ???
I currently have an ASUS RT-AC86U running Merlin, along with a Netgear X4s R7800 as my backup. I'm really bored with Netgear stock firmware and Voxel firmware, I tried Kong's OpenWrt and it's really young. Merlin on my RT-AC86U has just about everything I like/need and it works well.
I have a FreeNAS box currently connected with link aggregation through a managed switch and then to a port on the RT-AC86U. Additionally I have a Windows machine running Plex. I copy large files across the...

AC-3200 384.12 Administration Website messed up.
Sorry, I know that is not a very technical description.
I had my system apart today to mount my AC-3200 to a wall.
Everything got plugged back and the internet works just fine.
Sadly, when I went to login to the router, the management pages take forever and most of the time they timeout. I have to constantly hit refresh on the browser just to get to past login and bring the main page up.
I feel stupid because I can't think of any causality here.
I would assume I messed the hardware up if...

Wow Linksys has 24/7 live chat unlike some companies or brands that only offer 90 days of it
Live chat is definitely something that convinces me to try the brand. It is easier and quicker to get help.
I just wish Linksys came out with a Wifi 6 router. Oh well. Good things come to those people who wait!

Accessing cable modem through router?
I can normally access 192.168.100.1 cable modem through my router fine when the internet is up (presumably routed to the CMTS and back to the cable modem?)
That is nice and all until the internet goes down (and therefore I no longer have an IP from my isp) and so 192.168.100.1 quits working, which becomes a problem if I want to log in to that to figure out why it disconnected.
How would one get around this problem to access 192.168.100.1 while I don't have an IP from my ISP?

route all traffic through VPN
Hello,
I want to access one of my home devices with a LAN connection from my cell when I am outside. I tried using my Asus RT-AC88U's original firmware's openssl and ipsec VPN to connect home and access it but it doesn't go through my VPN network, it goes through my phone's internet.
I see that the Asuswrt Merlin firmware's VPN settings allows all traffic to be routed through VPN, can someone please tell me if this would mean I can access my home device like I am at home in a LAN network?...

Ramblings of an Old Man … Ruckus
Where else can an old man ramble on about computers and networks? (My wife tolerates it only to the point that it puts her to sleep at night : -)
As a hobby I do minor repairs and setups for family, friends and a few car lots. I’ve tried to engage professionals for the car lots but they’ve always priced themselves out before I can even get a conversation going between the principals.

sacrifice child?
Running 384_12 (latest stable) on an AC88 with Diversion & Skynet with 2GB swap file. Had a crash (early in the morning hours with no load):
kernel: Out of memory: Kill process 2306 (dnsmasq) score 16 or sacrifice child
kernel: Killed process 2307 (dnsmasq) total-vm:1328kB, anon-rss:0kB, file-rss:0kB
kernel: mroute: pending queue full, dropping entries.
Wants to sacrifice child. Is this like Genisis 22:2 for the computer gods? But seriously, I would like to know what is going on here.

Unexpected network error while accessing Samba share on 384.13 beta2
Hi, just got the subject error while running a 'robocopy' backup script against a samba shared drive on my rt-ax88u. I am not posting this in the alpha thread since not aimesh related. I reried the command and it went through succesfully.

Cannot access a specific website from ASUS router behind bridged router/modem
My ISP has provided me with a CISCO EPC3928S modem/router. I have this set to Bridged mode and handle routing on my internal network using my ASUS AC68U.
I need to access a specific website for my work, but cannot access it when i am connected to the ASUS AC68U. I have tried to tracert the hostname in question and can see 5 or 6 hops from my home in Malta, through to UK before it starts to timeout.
If I switch on the wireless on the bridged CISCO EPC3928S I can access the site just fine....
