Fire Tablet and 384.5 FW

I've been having this issue with my fire tablet for the kid and my wife's tablet which is the same model since upgrading to 384.5 from 380.x - whatever the latest release is/was. I have no issues with any other devices on the network, even all of my smart outlets,bulbs, led controllers run fine on 2.4, just these damn tablets.

I was able to connect to other AP's in the area, just not my 3200. even with an open guest network....

I've loaded the fw update, then restarted, then factory reset,...

Hi;

I've recently purchased a AC5300 and installed the Merlin 384.5 firmware. I had set this up with one main SSID with Smart Connect for the 2.4GHz and both the 5GHz radios, and two guest SSID
(one for the 2.4GHz band and one for the 5GHz radio 1)

Funny thing is that after a reboot it seems to run for a small amount of time (always less than 1 hour), and then the router becomes unresponsive though packets seem to still be getting through (The admin panel and the authentication of new...

I run TCP OpenVPN on Merlin 384.5 using public/private ECDSA keys with HMAC filtering. I noticed the following in my router logs today:

I am having problems trying to increase my Internet Speed from my ISP.
I was paying for a 60mbs connection with a DCM475 cable modem. The throughput on my system was always in the 75-80mbs. (modem+TL-ER6020+DGS-3200+TPlink AP's+RT-AC88U+DGS-3200+TL WR1043ND)
If I was using openvpn on a subnetted AC88u my vpn throughput was approx 75mbs.
So through the vpn, or outside the vpn, my network my speeds were faster, than the service I was paying for.

I have a ROG GT-AC5300 as my main wireless router. As of late (a week), I've been having problems with Amazon . com loading slowing or not at all. Now, I'm using OpenVPN client with NordVPN and it's a known issue that Amazon is limiting/blocking access from NordVPN, but discovered that if I use my own DNS servers (3rd Party) and not the VPNs DNSs, Amazon loads fine. RT-AC86U, can't get IPsec server to work

Hi,
I can't get the IPsec server to work on my RT-AC86U. I'm currently on 384.5 (I briefly tried this on 384.4 before as well, but didn't have time to investigate further), and after configuring the server the devices I tried to use (Mac from my office's wifi, iPhone from the same wifi and cellular network) just won't connect. The error I get is "Negotiation with the VPN server failed". The wifi network has got IPsec pass-through enabled, but again, same behavior with cellular.

Problem with IPv6 tunneling

Problem: Bought a new AC86U router and set up IPv6 6in4 tunnel using Hurricane Electric tunnel broker as described in the wiki. But when I enable tunnel by updating my dynamic IP address to the tunnel service, most of the connections to the sites fail after timeout. Ping to the both IPv6 and IPv4 sites is ok.

I thought that it might be MTU issue. I've tried to determine it and played with different values in the IPv6 page settings and in tunnel setting on the HE site. Problem exists...

Hello All,

I have a RT-N66U and at some point I noticed 2.4ghz-only devices were not connecting successfully to it while 5ghz devices connected fine. I thought the 2.4ghz radio might be dead, so I recently bought a RT-AC3200. The first thing I did with the new router is install Merlin 384.5 and perform a factory restore.

I noticed over the course of the day while configuring (including some reboots) that sometimes the 2.4ghz SSID would show up as an available network on my cell phone and...

Cleaning VPNFilter malware from Asus RT-N66U

My sister has an Asus RT-N66U router I'm sure hasn't had a firmware upgrade since I handed it down to her years ago.

Anyone know of any official recommended steps to cleanup any malware from the router? Will a firmware update take care of it? Should I factory reset first?

I was looking for an Asus forum, but seems its a victim of GDPR :) Which is a lame excuse, they've had 2+ years notice. We'd been preparing at work for it for a long time.

OpenVPN Reconnects not neogiotating new port on server.

Hi all. I've been using open VPN for quite some and it works flawlessly for me for the most part. I do have one issue though that I just cannot seem to nail down. I at least now know what the issue is and what is going on... I have a Synolgy NAS at a remote site that connects to my open VPN server that runs on my router. once in a while, the connection will drop and the NAS tries to reconnect... When it does reconnect, it connects with the same port number (by design according to Synology)...

Would it be possible for me to set up port forwarding on my router in such a way that I could use any TCP port to communicate with the OpenVPN server I run from my router? I have some TCP ports used for other services, but for those that are not used, could this be done?

[Help] Asus RT-AC68U Unable to Flash Firmware

I Followed the directions
power down
hold reset button , power up and hold reset for 10sec
recover mode, insert firmware , upload and it should flash

the problem is that it goes through all of that and it just comes back the same firmware as in the image.
i have tried using the Asus software to flash and it still ends up the same
i have tried using various firmware , even the stock ones from Asus , any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
I have comcast (modem/router combo) internet at my place. To cover my entire house i purchased a Linksys wifi router by running a LAN cable from xfinity combo box to Linksys router port. So far so good.

But, when i check ip address on computer connected to comcast wifi it gives differen default gate way ip address say 10.1.10.1 and computer connected to Linksys wifi has different gate way ip address say 192.168.1.1

What i want is all my devices should have default gateway of 10.1.10.1....

How to keep same Default Gateway in Comcast Router and External Router

Hello,

I am interested in the RT-AC68/86U or other models, in addition to Merlin firmware. After reading through forums a while, it seems many members lean towards the 86U.

The the ability to use a VPN is nice, although never used one. The 86U has the edge in, processing power/Intel encryption.

I would prefer easy to use features and better WiFi extension/control, using mostly 5mhz. Along with better router options. Over the better VPN processing, as long as the routers have decent...

I have an AC88U as my main router, AC3100, and a couple of AC68U's as my AiMesh nodes. All were in the official Asus 20648 -> 20942 and now all on the 384_21045. In all versions of these firmwares, I noticed that the AC88U AiMesh UI shows that my nodes go offline after a day or 2...and remain that way unless I reboot the nodes. But in reality, the nodes are still connected even if the UI indicates that they're offline. I can ping the nodes, SSH to them, and also ping all the devices that...

Today the RT-N66U was added to the list of routers known to be affected by the VPNFilter malware.

What are folks doing about updating firmware for the RT-N66U to deal with VPNFilter?

It appears 3.0.0.4.382_50470 with a date of May 15, 2018, is the most recent firmware but I haven't found much about it online.

Is this a stable firmware, and if not, what is the most recent stable firmware?

Thoughts?

Qualcomm firmware version in R7800

Is there any way to retrieve the version of the Qualcomm wifi chipset firmware/software from the R7800?

Was it updated in Netgear firmware 1.0.2.52?

There are threads over at Macrumors and Apple regarding battery drain with some iPhones using IOS 11.4.1 that might be related to 5Ghz wifi.

I had these issues so I am just investigating to see if they're Qualcomm related.
