Until recently, I had an RT-AC87u with merlin on it. Recently I updated my router and replaced it with RT-AC86U. (The Asus numbering scheme is weird - the 86 is way newer than the 87. Go figure.)
The new router AC86U is running Merlin 384.4_2.
For quite a while I've used Onsip as my VOIP provider for home and office. With the AC87U the voip service was rock solid.
Since replacing the 87U with the 86U, we've been having a little trouble with call completion and call transfers....

Merlin irrespective AC86U router country?

I'm from Australia and the AC86U wireless router is exclusively sold via a retailer between A$350-$400. There are websites in Australia selling grey imports from HK, Malaysia, China for A$205. now you can see the temptation for the price difference. I was worried if grey import from say HK or Malaysia, the firmware and admin setup page may all be in their home language and not English.

AIMesh node button disapeared from GUI after update to Merlin 384
Hello experts.. I have RT-AC88u as main AIMesh router, and RT-AC1900u as AIMesh node. I have run the orginal Asus 384 Stock firmware. Todag I desided to install Merlins newest firmware 384.4.2 on my main router. After update to Merlin my AIMesh node button in the GUI is no longer showing up.. It is gone.. What is wrong??

NTP update not executed after reboot
I'm having some issues with my Asus RT-AC87U.
The NTP update isn't executed after reboot (which results in no internet access).
I found that setting some random host name under "WAN -> Special Requirement from ISP -> Host Name" and then removing it resolves the time issue and gives me internet access (until the next reboot).
Will updating to the Merlin firmware help in this case?

USB 3.0 speed issue
I have an rt-3100 router with firmware 384.4_2 and I have a Sandisk ultra fit usb 3.0 flash drive. I have the 2.4ghz radio disabled and on the advanced wireless settings when I disable the usb 3 interference the drive does not get detected. When I enable the feature the drive works fine. Why can’t I disable this feature? Can I not use this at usb 3 speeds?

@RMerlin I see no updates to NTP in the changelog since the latest NTP security fix release in February; 4.2.8.p10-4 is the latest release in Entware.

Netspot (OSX) shows 488 radios in my office space. It is medical office building next in a major hospital, with a university right next door.
Add in that the building is line of sight with a major airport, so that takes out a lot of channels. One netgear router is reporting 5Ghz channels 52,56,60,64,100,104,108,112,116,120,124,128 are DFS, so not available. Leaving only 36,40,44,48,149,153,157,161.
It is in a medical building so there are numerous other sources of signal, MRI's. It...

I've been using an AC68U H/W Ver B1 in AP mode with Merlin's 384.4_2 branch since it came out and in AP mode, the device works wonderfully! We have all kinds of devices in the house connected to both 2.4/5Ghz radios including iPhones, Macbook Pro's, and Dell and HP business laptops, Xbox One S, Apple TV 4k. The Macbook Pro and my Dell Latitude 7480 are connected to the 5Ghz channel @ 400Mbps, which is good enough. The 2.4Ghz clients typically sit at 130-200Mbps. No disconnects, strong signal...

Is it possible to adjust Tx power on the RT-AC86U wi-fi with Merlin? (Seems to be impossible on stock fw) On my old AC66U i had 50% which was more than enough.

3TB ext3 drive not recognized on RT-AC5300 w/384.4_2
Running 384.4_2 on RT-AC5300 and have a Seagate 3TB drive formatted as ext3.
I can use the drive on three other Linux systems and a Raspberry Pi just fine. But when I plug it into my RT-AC5300 on either USB port, it's not recognized at all. blkid returns nothing and I see nothing about the drive in the System Log. Any ideas?

ISP public IP leak with openvpn + proxy
My openvpn server when running a proxy won't show the public ip as that of the proxy. It will instead show my isp public ip. Wondering if it's an ip leak, or some issue related to the isp modem as the final jump point before the internet. If I use Tor, or a proxy search engine, the proxy ip shows as my public ip. But on my server with a manual proxy setup, will never show the proxy ip, so I'm exposed. Proxies are anonymous and elite I've used for testing so far. Any thoughts are greatly...

Devices Suddenly Prefer 2.4 to 5GHz (R7800 /w Voxel Firmware)
Hi,
All of a sudden, my iPhones, Echo, and other devices are automatically selecting the 2.4GHz channel, instead of the 5GHz. My iPhone 7s and Echo 2nd generation used to always choose the 5GHz. Why would that be? 5GHz is up and running, and nothing has changed in terms of the physical layout of the devices or the placement of the router.

Original Moto X can't connect to 5.0 on RT-AC86U
Hi all,
I just bought an RT-AC86U as a replacement/upgrade from my RT-N66U. So far I'm very pleased with it. 5.0 range is significantly better. The only problem I've had is that my wife's original Moto X will not connect to the 5.0. It will connect to the 2.4 just fine. It is supposed to support wireless N and AC. The Android settings will initially say it is connected (although the wifi indicator never shows up on top of the screen). Then it just disconnects and sits there.
