Has anyone gotten IKEv2/IPSec PSK VPN to work on Android 13 with Asus-Merlin 388.1?

Hi everyone,

It seems Android stopped supporting IPSec Xauth PSK VPN starting with version 12. However, the latest versions of the Asus-Merlin firmware support IKEv2 IPSec. Unfortunately, I've been unable to get it to work with Android 13.

Has anyone gotten it to work? Are there any special steps that are required beyond what's documented?

I currently have an Asus RT-AX88U with Asus-Merlin firmware 388.1.

Thank you!

Video conference hiccups - MoCA problem?

I am experiencing occasional hiccups / freezes during conference calls with my home network over MoCA.

I live in an apartment building that provides Gigabit Internet. It has a wireless access point in each unit (IBT U6-IW-US) with 4x GbE RJ45 ports. I am getting 925Mbps up and down over wired connections to my laptop, versus around 350Mbps over wireless. So obviously, a wired connection has my preference.

I decided to utilize the coax outlets in the apartment for a wired connection to my...

RT-BE88U won't connect to smart devices

Anyone else have this issue? 2 Google Nest Minis plus a bunch of 2.4GHz smart lights and plugs of various brands I connect to using Smart Life on Android. They all connect perfectly to my old TP-Link router. On my new RT-BE88U they will not connect no matter what I do. A couple of them have connected using their in-built alternative method of broadcasting their own SSID to connect to(slow blink vs fast blink). Most won't connect with this method and NONE of them will connect through the...

Ethernet coupler broke my VPN

tl;dr When I connected 2 Ethernet cables that run between my 5g home internet receiver and a PoE injector (which then connects to my router), my router-based OVPN client broke. Huge drop in download speeds, near total standstill in upload speeds (0.xx mbps) …. And huge packet loss (15%, 26%, 44%) ….. the traffic over the WAN interface appeared to be unaffected. MTU was previously optimized and all’s well. Latency also shot way up over the VPN run when the coupler was in place. Also, at...

Bricked RBR50 SOLVED!

After several attempts over a period of months, I’ve finally found a method that worked for me to consistently flash both an Orbi RBK50 router and satellite using a Windows 10/11 PC. I had zero success with tftp, but nmrpflash worked.

My Orbi did have a green power light, but I wasn’t able to connect to it. Can’t speak to other symptoms.

  • Place nmrpflash.exe and your desired firmware file in the Windows c:\ root directory
  • Connect lan cable from computer to Orbi (router or...

4x4 2,4 Ghz increase coverage?

If I want a AP with maximum coverage, in Europe, In some sites say 4x4 radio increase coverage over 2x2 radio.

My question is if this is true or not

In a WLAN with IOT devices far from AP, 4x4 radio increase REAL coverage over 2x2 radio OR NOT?

Many domestic router have 2x2 radio in 2,4 Ghz (but 4x4 radio in 5 Ghz). Only high end routers have 4x4 radio in 2,4 ghz

I owned unifi UAP-AC-LR with 3x3 in 2,4 Ghz but coverage is similar to RT-AX55 or RT-AX57 that are 2x2

For example, XIAOMI...

Hi!

Many thanks to @cmkelley for this great addon that I heavily rely on!

I've been diagnosing this issue for a while now trying to troubleshoot as much as I can to provide as much details as possible. I've seen similar issues in other threads that I could relate to, but I need some more assistance to decide what is the best fix for my issue. It might get useful again for the whole community if it turns out that we need a global config check built into the original script.

I had my...

Hello friends, as most people, I was getting together with my friends in a channel on Discord while playing a game together. But about a week ago, Discord got banned for an unknown reason in Turkey. I can connect from the browser with 1.1.1.1 DNS setting. Or if I activate my PrivateVpn with its Windows app, I can connect directly with the Discord app. And while having the Asus BE98 router, I can also add a Fusion VPN profile such as Wireguard, or L2TP with PrivateVPN settings and all good...

2.4ghz and 5ghz clients cant communicate with each other

Hi all,
Apologies if this was addressed in another thread, I've been trying the forum search and didn't really find anything applicable.

I have an Asus RT-AX86U Pro running 3004.388.4. I've configured 2 SSIDs a 5ghz one with SSID names formatted like this: WIFI_5G and WIFI. Both SSIDs use the same subnet underneath but I've noticed 5ghz clients cant talk to 2.4ghz clients and vice versa. I'm not sure when this stopped working but I'm pretty sure it worked previously and it definitely...

I have OpenVPN server running on my ASUS TUF AX4200 in my house. Router is on ISP 250/50Mbps connection. When connected from an outside PC (through WAN) to the router the transfer speed(NAS->outside PC) I get is 1-2MB/s. When trying the same download via WireGuard I get 6MB/s. In both cases the CPU cores show no more than few percentage utilization -up to 10%. Thanks

Trying to Figure Out Why Cable Modem Keeps Losing Connection

Spectrum is my internet provider. I use their modem, an ES2251 HW VER 1.3. My router is an Asus RT-AC88U running firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_48263

The modem only has two indicator lights on it one for power and one for online. For the past two weeks, every few days I lose my internet connection. The "online" light is lit blue indicating the modem is online, but I have no internet. I have to power cycle the modem to restore the connection.

The last time this happened, before power cycling...
