What to enable SSH for Admin login to router.

Hi,

I am on an Asus rt-ac86u router using the web client. When I enter the router IP it takes me to the login page which is not secure. I want to enable SSH so my admin login is protected. I have /Admin/sytem/SSH on for LAN and WAN. But is not impacting admin login page. How do I enable? Thank you, Wc

Unifi 6 Wireless performance issues

Hi guys

I hope you are doing good.

We bought Unifi U6 Enterprise access point for about 200 devices connected to the access point. We have 600Mbps internet connection. We have 3 Unifi devices.

I have set separate SSID (2g-1, 2g-2, 2g-3, and 5g-1, 5g-2, 5g-3) for 2ghz and 5ghz. Each Unifi devices connected directly to network switch (Mikrotic) via cat7 cable.

The issue is when 50 devices are connected then internet is good (getting speed of around 150Mbps) but when 150+ devices are...

Hi!
Running latest Asus Merlin firmware on my RT-AX88U. I have separated 2.4 and 5Ghz to different networks. When connecting to 5Ghz my phone time from time shows 2.4Ghz despite being connected to 5Ghz. How do i force 5Ghz only?

Anyone else have this issue on Samsung S24?

RT-AX88U Pro currently has the ASUSWRT 5.0/3.0.0.6 firmware. Is the RT-AX86U Pro expected to receive this version of the firmware, or will it be stuck on 3.0.0.4 forever?

I consider myself to generally to be quite technical but realistically I'm not!

I have been trying for quite a while to get a Wireguard VPN client running on a router with policy based rules but I couldn't manage it. I recently found out that both Asuswrt and Asuswrt-Merlin had introduced support for it so I bought myself an RT-AX86U Pro. I have flashed it with Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 and set up a (Surfshark) VPN client and added a VPN Director rule for my main desktop PC.

ASUS Router RT-AX89X cutting off connectivity constantly.

I have had this problem of RT-AX89X disconnecting intermittently for a long time. It never occurred to me that it was due memory leaks that resulted in crashing. It took me a while to report it to ASUS support. And they pretended that they never heard of such a complaint.



They kept asking me to send the system log for which they never gave me any conclusive diagnosis. It was after I stumbled onto the SNB forum that it dawned on me...

Scheduling local clients (stop kids from using local Plex at night)

I've been using Parental Controls > Time Scheduling to disable the internet for our FireTV stick and the TV itself for a while.

But once the internet stops, the kids can still move to our local Plex server and keep watching from there.

Any idea if there is an easy fix to this? I have no problem with command line, cron or scripts.

Thanks for any pointers and sorry for the non-technical request.

Asuswrt-Merlin is now available for all supported Wifi 5 devices.

EDIT: 26-April-2024 - 386.13_2 has been released for the RT-AC86U and GT-AC2900, addressing a security issue in IPSEC (which isn't supported by the other Wifi 5 models).

I recently replaced a TP Link Deco X5000 with an Asus XT8 because the Deco didn't have a lot of management options, no traffic monitoring, and had a few annoying quirks. I'm starting to think I went from the frying pan into the fryer with this move. The Asus has more management options and a traffic monitor which the Deco didn't have, but apparently the traffic monitor causes problems so I can't really use it like I would like to and it seems to have its own set of bugs and annoying...

I bought a new Asus RT-AX 58U (here). Trying to flash the Merlin fw (RT-AX58U_3004_388.7_0_puresqubi.w) failed. I already read, that the V2 of the router is not supported, but I think I bought V1 ?!

Any hints?

deSEC DDNS update script

After failing to create a custom Inadyn DDNS configuration for deSEC.io that would update both IPv4 and IPv6, I've created a script that updates my deSEC domain IP.
It is a simple yet effective script that updates a deSEC.io domain name with the latest WAN IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. It uses deSEC's API to push updates.

If anyone wants to try it out, it is available on Github.
