Unbound DNS VPN Client w/policy rules

I have been using Unbound DNS for a long time as my primary DNS on my local network. Some of my client devices use NordVPN with Unbound as DNS.
I have been wondering recently if Unbound can be configured so all DNS traffic for those specific VPN devices traverses over VPN interface/tunnel.
As I was reading the Unbound documentation it is possible to specify multiple interfaces in unbund.conf. One of these can be the VPN interface. We can also force VPN clients to use specific DNS...

386.1 system time out by 1hr in Australia

First of all massive thanks to @RMerlin for the 386.1 release. I have done a full factory reset and manual rebuild of my network to 386.1 and it is working amazingly.

The only (minor) issue I have found is that the system time and log entries are out by one hour and I have double checked settings are correct (exactly as setup with 384.19). I think the bug is that it is not adjusting system time for daylight savings although system says it is adjusted (i'm in Australia so...

I seem to get this message in my logs every 30-60 minutes:

AiMesh 2.0 node + vlan?

Hi,

Please excuse my crude illustration. I'm looking for an answer for what is potentially a simple issue. As you can see I have the main router which broadcasts 2.4 and 5ghz (red). I would like this to be extended to the blue node at the other end of the house so everything is on the same subnet (again, in red). Then I'd like a second wifi network which exists on another subnet and doesn't interact with the red network at all. I've done this by setting up a guest network but it seems that...

Has anybody else been having issues with their wifi losing internet connection? I'm not talking about losing the wifi signal completely (I still stay connected), but there's just no internet coming with that signal.

I've had the AX86U for a couple months so far, and it's been pretty great up until recently. I find that every couple days or so, I'll be connected on wifi on my devices (a couple laptops, mobile phone, TV), but there won't be any internet coming through. The wifi signal...

Still having ping spikes, even with QOS on. Bad gaming experience.

Guys I need your help, I've been having issues for a long time now, tried everything to fix it without success.
I have a ADSL2+ connection 12 down, 1 up. SNR margin is very high, at around 14db. My ISP is very conservative, this should be good for 15/16mb.

Without QOS, it's IMPOSSIBLE to play any game if there's an upload/download going on, with crazy packet loss and 1000ms spikes. With QOS it's much improved, but i still have spikes of 100ms when a download starts, it stabilizes right...

Import settings to new firmware? How and why not if router does it?

Ok, just let me be clear.

It is totaly logical for me NOT to import old settings backup to a new(er) firmware... I always configure it from scratch after updating.

However, I have a question...


So lets say, that I have a Asus router with an older firmware and I want to flash a newer one.

No problem. Upload a newer firmware and voila, the router is updated WITH AN OLD SETTINGS! How is THAT possbile, that the settings are still there, functioning normally, but it would be not recommended...

From what I've seen, Asus' speedtest inclusion in 386 looks very good, making me unsure if I should continue with spdMerlin as a project.

For anyone running 386, is there anything spdMerlin does that Asus' doesn't, and vice versa?

Hi people how is it going?
So I've moved to a different place and purchased a second hand AC68U to put in one of the bedrooms to expand the Wifi coverage in the new apartment.
I've got an AC86U in the living room as my main router.

Routers keep crashing due to kernel panic

Hi guys, I'm running a rt ac86u as my router, with 2 rt ac1200g+s as wireless APs to increase the signal range. My 1200g+s have been acting weird lately, they often run into kernel panics together at the same time, while the 86u never seems to have any problem. I have attached the logs of the 1200g+s, what is wrong with them?
(Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt) This seems to be the big problem that keeps reappearing again and again.

Root Cause for 100 mbps

I was expecting 1000 mbps on my ethernet. Instead, I am at a stable 100 mbps on all 10 jacks (home set-up). Troubleshooting

1. will router give 1000 mbps? - yes (direct)
2. will lap-up execute 1000 mbps when direct connected to the router while the laptop is on battery? - yes
3. are all 4-pairs are lighting up when tested at wall jacks as being connected in correct order of 1, 2, 3 to 8? - yes
4. is the cable between router and jack labled as cat 5e? - yes. Does it look like 5e? - yes

Hey guys, I've been away for a while, the forum has a new look! Whats new with QoS and codel these days? I see FreshJR is taking a break.

I have an ac68u on 300/300 fiber. Any minor download causes my ping to climb to the moon in one particular program. Any advice on mitigating this sort of thing would be appreciated

So i just found out about the AI-Mesh that ASUS is implementing in their new firmware. Sounds perfect since i just bough an AC5300 and would like to use my 3200 as another AP on the other side of my house. But looking on the ASUS website it only states AC5300 coming soon which make me believe they forgot all about the AC3200. The router seems to still be relevant in terms of specs and looks like the 3100. So i really dont understand why this router seems to be forgotten.

Reboot issue on AX88U 3.0.0.4.386_41700

I faced a reboot issue on AX88U 3.0.0.4.386_41700. Every time I applied some settings in the AX88U, it needs a reboot. However, all WAN connections are shown as disconnected after the reboot. I need to manually reboot all modems after my AX88U rebooted. Unplugging the cable does not help

This is my setup:
Main router: AX88U 3.0.0.4.386_41700 with Dual wan load balancing
AiMesh Node: AX92U 3.0.0.4.386_41712
