Hi all,

I'm having issues with my new RT-AC86U which I upgraded to from my old N66U a few weeks ago & would appreciate any help or suggestions. I live in a rural location so can only get ADSL broadband with a 4mb download & 1mb upload speen, nothing fancy but it suits my needs. I decided to upgrade my old N66U due to it's age & depreciated Merlin firmware to the newer AC86U after reading some good reviews about it, even though it was working fine & was giving me the full 4mb down speed &...

RT-AC87U Extremely poor Signal Strength

My year old router has an extremely poor range in one direction. All antennas are installed straight up on my router and it's on my first floor, about 5 feet from the floor in the Front Right Corner of the house. At my driveway, I get 3 bars (I can get the dB tonight) at approx 60 feet from the router and the signal has to go through 3 walls. In the exact opposite direction I go through only 1 exterior wall (vinyl siding) and pick up only 1 bar at the pool with is approx 50 feet away....

First off newbie to the group. I bought an NG R7800 last week and set it up. FW is at 1.0.2.46 and was going to update it but read there are issues with it. I also saw there is a hot fix 1.0.2.63 but no mention of was it fixes. I've considered doing a custom FW but need information on the Voxel FW. I see there are multiple files, do I need to install them all or just the R7800 V1.0.2.67?

Asus RT-AC1200G+ - Media Bridge mode speed capped at 173.3 Mbps.

Hi! I just purchased the AC1200G+ to use as a WiFi client.

My issue is that the web panel shows "Link rate" is capped at 173.3 Mbps which I'm disappointed with, as I can't use my internet connection at full speed. My other devices easily reach 400+ Mbps. The access point I'm connecting to is AirTies 4920.

I tried manipulating the settings at /Advanced_Wireless_Content.asp but they don't seem to have any effect on the bridge mode. I uploaded the wireless log as an attachment.

802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) when is it worth updgrading to ax routers

When will clients start supporting ax wi fi and will ax routers be worth upgrading to? Looking at the Netgear RAX80/ RAX120 or the Asus RT-AX88U as and upgrade to my RT-AC86U. None of our devices are running ax yet thinking it's better to wait until we get some ax devices. I like Asus and Merlin but would consider Netgear or other if it's a better router. On the plus side the RAX's look like a bat wing.

Hello everyone,

Recently I've upgraded my trustworthy RT-N18U to RT-AC86U in order to achieve greater VPN speeds and 5 GHz. I've immediately flashed stable Merlin firmware 384.12, reset it to factory and configured the thing.
Wi-Fi is 2.4/5GHz SmartConnect (default settings), ISP is simple DHCP. No QoS, IPv6 etc.

Life was great… for a couple of weeks.

Today all of a sudden my wireless devices started to randomly lose Wi-Fi connection for long periods of time while the wired ones are...

Hello all,

As the title states I'm looking to replace my Netgear R7000. I'm moving to a larger home so I'll need something that can provide coverage for a 3000 sqft home and handle more devices. I've spent a lot of time on the snb forums researching and need help deciding between an ac and ax router. Is AX still to premature for a "future proof" solution? We have fios gigabit so i'm looking for something powerful. My budget is $300. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How to turn off AP Isolation while in bridge/repeater mode on RT-AC88U

I have a RT-AC88U and RT-AC68U that are in bridge/repeater mode connected to a linksys router. I have security cameras and my phone connected to the bridge on 2G and I can see they are connected and operating as expected, but I am unable to ping them. I am assuming the AP Isolation is on, but I can not see any way to disable it while in repeater mode? Do I need to set this up as a router first, disable the AP Isolation and then set it up in repeater mode? Other options/ideas? I am new...

Asus ROG GT-AC5300 extremely slow on 2.4GHz

Hello,

New poster here. I was a proud owner of Asus RT-AC68U for several years until it died on me recently. I went to Amazon and bought a "Used-like new" Asus ROG GT-AC5300. Unit came and it looks new with an open box. I hooked it up and went through configuration. Out of the box, 2.4GHz was extremely slow and unreliable. I test it with a laptop within 5 feet from the router and the Speed test gave me 15Mbps/2.5 Mbps on my 100/10Mbpz Internet plan., while the other two bands show...

Hello everyone, great forum

I have a few questions regarding the setting up of an AiMesh system.

I currently have an RT-AC5300 router as my main router and as of this morning, I have 2x RT-AC68U router to add as nodes. I was reading another thread on here where a couple of questions were asked and got me thinking

Questions are
I have read that the 68U's don't support smart connect, is this true?

I also read that on the AC5300 that all three wireless SSID's have to be the same is this...

Motorola MOCA LED's are green, but no connection

I've got two new Motorola MM1000 adapters. Router -> rj45(A) -> MM1000(B) -> coax (rg6, I think) -> MM1000(C) -> rj45(D) -> laptop

If I plug the rj45(A) into laptop, that works. If I use rj45(D) the same laptop cannot connect to the router. It fails connecting to the DHCP server.

The LAN and LINK lights on B and C are solid green or blink.

Any help appreciated.

TP-Link home routers: any support for IPv6 firewall?

Do any TP-Link home wifi routers have support for an IPv6 firewall (meaning the ability to block unsolicited inbound IPv6 traffic, except for stuff that is required by IPv6 itself, e.g. ICMPv6, etc)?

I know the Archer C7 doesn't (via my own testing). How about the Archer A20?

I've asked TP-Link, but their support folks actually gave conflicting and somewhat ambiguous answers, and their documentation is not detailed enough.
Anybody know for certain (via their own testing)? And if they...

I am moving from a 1000 sq ft apartment to a 2000 sq ft single floor house and I suspect I will need to use an additional router for Wi-Fi coverage.

Currently, in the apartment, the room with cable has a cable modem and an Asus RT-AC68U. This provides Wi-Fi for mobile devices and a wired connection for a Kindle TV. The router has a simple configuration. I don’t have any devices that are using 2G but it is enabled, and the SSID’s for 2G and 5G are different. Guest Wi-Fi is disabled.

Trouble With Bridging To OpenWRT Router

I'm trying to figure out the best way to bridge the following routers:

TP-Link Archer C2600 - OpenWRT firmware - I want this to be the master/host for the bridge due to its AC capabilities.
ASUS RT-N66U - Merlin firmware - I want this to be the client connecting to the master/host, with wired devices connecting to the C2600 over the bridge.

My problem here is that if I set the RT-N66U in Media Bridge or Repeater mode, and attempt to connect to the wireless network that the C2600 uses, it...

Can anything be done to accelerate URL filtering?

I've started utilizing ASUS router URL filtering to enhance privacy within my home and have placed few keywords in there for most offending things like:
facebook
twitter
google

Now, I don't use any of these services so I'm fine with absolute blocking. The only problem is Google and their stupid fonts from "fonts.googleapis.com" that seems to be loading on bunch of webpages and makes pages load for several seconds which is SUPER annoying.

Now, is there anything that can be done on Merlin...

Hello.
I’ve had a wonderful 10 years of use from a 2nd gen Extreme [non-simultaneous .N] and 1 Express (hardwired). I cannot find any 6th gen .ac used Extreme for less than ~$300 from trustworthy sites, I don’t do eBay.

House is single story 1300 sq. foot stucco, small back yard (25 feet depth from house), no ethernet runs inside walls, RG59 runs only. Standard SoCal suburbia lot, neighbors on east/west sides, no houses ever next to me north/south. Attached garage w/metal door.
