I've been a fan of Merlin and John's work on the firmware and my experience with ASUS has been relatively good. I currently have an AC66U and will be upgrading to a Triband router, with the AC5300 and 3200 as my choices from ASUS. Obviously, the 5300 is pricy. this will end up as a repeater and will likely end up as a repeater as my current one is.
