Is there a way to get the rmerlin scripts working with .sh at the end?

I use smb often at home (where it is fast enough) to edit my /jffs/scripts. Using windows it is a bit of pain opening them because they don't have a "file type". Is there a way we can get rmerlin scripts t0 work with .sh at the end (pre-mount.sh firewall-start.sh etc)? I am guessing this is a ridiculous idea for some reason so I apologize for my ignorance in advance. ;)
