I have both a new router RT-AC87R and i use the latest Asus Firmware. So i have a separate SSID for 2,4 ghz and 5 ghz. My Macbook pro late 2011 is on 5 ghz, my iphone 6S, my ipad air 2 and my Apple TV 3. So, on the macbook, i lost connection on 5 ghz after some times.
