Question about (normal) guest network with ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000
Hi all,
Since I am planning to order 3 of these this evening (or tomorrow morning), I am looking for some honest advice about the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 routers.
I have been running 3 ASUS RT-AC86U (AC2900) in AiMesh mode (running MerlinWRT). This works nicely, however the Guest Network has always been a pain to use. Apparently I have to disable Hardware NAT (and/or enable Intranet Access) on the routers, otherwise the Guest Network will not work. No clue why? Perhaps it's MerlinWRT...

GL.iNet worth a try? Any advantage over ASUS?
I'm considering replacing my ASUS AC router. I'd like to consider an alternative, and the GL.iNet is the only reasonable thing I've seen as a possibility. I'd target the soon-to-be released Flint 2 (GL-MT6000).
My main concerns are security, manufacturer support, and client management in the firmware. I can't find an emulator for the Flint, so I can't peruse the firmware UI. (I like the ASUS UI and feature set.)
Does GL.iNet provide any advantages with respect to my concerns over ASUS?

Kamoj Addon 5.5 Beta for Netgear R7800/R8900/R9000 with Voxel FW
I make beta versions of the next kamoj add-on.
The 5.5 beta has a lot more functions than the 5.0 beta and 5.4 betas.
The objective is to in the near future make an official release!
But first I need some voluntary testers to find serious bugs,
anyone is welcome to test 5.5 beta.
To be a beta tester of this hobby project includes that you must be active;
as tester reporting success/error, and/or in the SNB forum.
Are you willing to give feedback, and contribute to the...

Yes, i can still create and assign a static IP but changing the device name from the default "New Device" to anything else or modifying the icon is not possible; it always remains as the default.

AC86U USB not reading 5 volts
Hi all
Recently managed to revive my AC86U by replacing MT3125.
It was working well for 5mths~ till I noticed the USB storage isn't detecting and my connected 5V fan is spinning 'louder'.
Tested the USB voltage (both 2.0 & 3.0) and it is not reading 5V, more like 10V~, and obviously fried my storage .
Apart from that, everything else is working OK.
Anybody know which component(s) do I replace/resolder for the USB 5V? (Yes I'm aware AC are EOL, but I'll like to keep it longer)

1.5Gb fiber connection with 3 mesh nodes. Clients getting ~500Mbps. Setting or nature of AIMesh?
3 node AIMesh RT-AX88U Pro using wired backhaul with 2.5Gb ports through 2.5Gb switch (link status shows 2.5Gb). FTTH connection is 1.5Gbps. Using Smart Connect and the wireless log shows on the router shows 160M connections on 5GHz with 2Gb or better port speeds, yet speed tests through the ISP show that clients seem to be limited to roughly 1/3 speed (~500Mbps).
Wired connections to any of the 3 routers/nodes shows essentially the same thing. A speed test directly from the router shows...

Mesh router vs regular for mesh
Hello.
I want to add router to my home to extend range. I like the look of the typical mesh zenwifi router nut I am concerned about comparision to regular one like RT-AX55 for example. Is it worse for zenwifi that it doesn't have external big antenas in terms of range and performance? Are mesh models work better as nodes than regular ones? What model do you recommend to get the best range?

Ping increases after couple of hours of the modem being on

I'm currently running VDSL (PTM) on Zyxel VMG4005-B50A PPPoE passthrough to my RT-AX86U running Asuswrt.
After a fresh reboot on my modem, I get around 5ms (pinging 1.1.1.1) but after a couple of hours it increases to 8-10ms and I can't seem to understand what the problem is.
Note that rebooting the router alone does not solve the issue, I must reboot the modem. I have an outlet cable extension...

Problems with XT8 AX6600 (RT-AX95Q) HW ver 2 running stock firmware.
Hello all. i purchased the Asus Zenwifi XT8 AX6600 bundle in feb 24. This bundle consisted of one router and one AI Mesh "node". Everything ran really well until last week when the router started having intermittent connection failures. Essentially connectivity would drop out. Either wifi or ethernet hardline. I couldnt find anything in the logs that was obvious. At first i could access the router and perform a reboot. But yesterday it completely locked up and i had to force restart it...

Which mesh device to purchase for 4500sq ft house?
Greetings,
I just noticed that my Zenwifi CT8 model is EOL with Asus. I thought about replacing it with an XT8 or something, but I don't feel great about the zenwifi series itself. I love the Asus interface (and love if it supported merlin). I don't actually need the Wifi backhaul because the 2 nodes I have now are connected via Gig-Ethernet.
So what should I get to replace this? I just want something that will be somewhat futureproof for a while, not super expensive, and gives me at...
